In just six years, Toyota plans to have all new models be electric. With that future fast approaching, Toyota is working hard to innovate its EV models. One such way is by significantly enhancing the batteries their models use. Toyota's plans for their EVs are bright, so let's discuss what was revealed.

Toyota’s Plans New EV Batteries

In a recent technical briefing called the "Toyota Technical Workshop," Toyota unveiled its plans for improving electric battery technology. The title of the briefing is "Let's Change the Future of Cars."

In the briefing, many new innovations were discussed, including long-term and short-term battery plans. One plan is to offer a high-performance pack. Another is crafting a mass-market, low-cost "bipolar" lithium iron phosphate solid-state battery. With this battery, Toyota aims to improve costs by 40 percent. Toyota also expects the battery to offer a 20 percent better range and to have less than 30 minutes of charging.

Sometime in 2027 or 2028, the new solid-state battery is set to release. The new tech will be a significant improvement over what's available. The new battery will have greater energy density, higher electric range, and faster charging. The new battery aims to have a refueling time on par with a gas-powered vehicle and a range of around 745 miles.

Innovative New Technology

If Toyota's new batteries are as significant as they say, they've changed the game of the EV world. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. We expect even more exciting technologies as we get closer to 2030, so stay updated at Palm Beach Toyota.
