The Toyota Sequoia has been around for decades and has been a great choice for drivers looking for a large SUV. That's why it's surprising that for nearly 15 years, this model remained unchanged. Luckily, for the 2023 model year, Toyota is correcting that and redesigning this model. Now with a new look, a powerful engine, and updated features, this model will be hard to pass up.

What’s New for 2023?

With a full redesign comes a whole host of changes. Starting with the engine, the Sequoia now has one powertrain, a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 engine combined with an electric motor. This hybrid model outputs 437 horsepower and 583 pounds of torque and is attached to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive also comes standard, though four-wheel drive is optional on most trims.

This hybrid setup also makes the Sequoia significantly more fuel efficient than many models in its class. With rear-wheel-drive, this crossover gets an estimated to get 21/24 mpg. While the four-wheel drive model drops those numbers to 19/22 mpg.

No redesign is complete without a slew of new tech and advanced driver aids. Across its trims, the Sequoia offers a 14-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and smartphone mirroring. And for safety, the new Sequoia comes standard with forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitor, and front and rear parking sensors.
